This week we have read and compared different versions of Jack(ie) and the Bean Stalk using a venn diagram, learned about the life cycle of a bean, planted our own beans (we are keeping a daily bean journal, making observations and predictions) and done some fun jelly bean based math projects! The class is divided into three groups, The Dancing Donkeys, The Magical Beans, and The Singing Harps led by our student assistants, Miss Madeline, Miss Elizabeth and Miss Amelie. We are having friendly competitions between groups to help encourage good teamwork. The groups estimated how many jelly beans fit inside a jar, designed a giant bean stalk, made bags full of magical beans (made of paper and cardboard) and also made magical bean cakes! We have also been reading through the script and practicing the songs from our play! The students have already choreographed one song themselves. On Thursday, we had our auditions so now everyone knows which part to practice. We did our first run through of the play today, and it's already looking great!
